Pixabay allows Moodle users to select images and videos to display as part of their course content that they create that can be used to enhance the user learning experience.
Note: If Pixabay is not displayed as an option, contact your System Administrator.
Step 1. When creating topics, assignments or activities the text field will allow you to select the Image button to include an image into your course content.
Step 2. Select the ‘Browse repositories...’ button
Step 3. To use Pixabay, enter a key word in the Search field (eg buildings). This keyword will be used to display images and videos based upon the two options that were used below the Search field.
Sort By: Popular or Latest
Safe Search: Safe or Unsafe
Step 4. Images based on the keyword will be displayed for you to select an appropriate image or video. Once you select an image, check the url link, author and license (in most instances accept the default settings) before you choose the ‘Select the file’ button.
Step 5. Once the file has been selected, the Image properties are able to be adjusted to suit your requirements before selecting the ‘Save Image’ button.
These properties include the following:
- The url link to the image
- An option to disable the description of the image or a description of the image if for any reason the image can not be viewed
- An option to auto size the image or enter its appropriate dimensions
- An option to align the image with the settings being either Top, Middle, Bottom, Left or Right
Step 6. Once the ‘Save Image’ button has been selected, the image will be displayed at the page where you selected the Image button back at Step 1.
