When using the Essay question type for a Quiz, you can set a template which appears in the students' text editor to help them scaffold their response

Step 1. Enter the Quiz Essay question's settings. Please note that you can do this only if you have the relevant permissions.
Step 2. Below is the settings page for a Quiz Essay question.
Step 3. Scroll down to the “Response Template” section
Step 4. In the “Response Template” text area, enter the required template that you would like the students to follow.
In the above example, the response template is a set of basic questions for which the students can enter their answers. You can also choose to have an HTML table if you would like to have the student enter their answers in a tabulated format.
When a student logs in and attempts the Quiz Essay question, the view that the student will receive is similar to the below image.
The student can enter their answers based on the template.
Step 5. When the grader attempts to grade the Essay quiz with the response template, the view for the grader will be similar to the below image.
Please note that the students will be able to edit or delete the Response template when they answer the question. The grader will view only what the student has submitted.
If the response template is edited by the student the grader will only see the edited Response template.
